Hundreds of students responded to Christ at tonight’s first session of the “Compelled By Love” Northwest Youth Conference. Chet Caudill, the Speed the Light Director for the Assemblies of God, challenged the students by suggesting,”So many people have lost their way because they find themselves in the land of the ‘if only.'” In other words, people often wonder how their lives could be different but they are unable to actually be different. Their lives are often defined by what they could be rather than what they should be. There is nothing more frustrating than knowing everything has gone wrong but having no idea how to make things right.
But Jesus said, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10, ESV). With that in mind, Caudill suggests, “Jesus reaches down into hell because he wants you in his possession.” God has done what only God can do. This is what we saw tonight. Transformation. Not the sort of change that is possible by human-hands alone…but by the cross of a Savior.
Tonight is just the beginning. This generation is being changed…in order to be changed. Students committed to following Christ. And follow Christ, they will.
