I have always enjoyed Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp Series. You can imagine my concern when I read that Kyle Mills was entrusted with carrying on the series with the release of The Survivor. I had heard that Mills did a descent job with doing something similar for the author of the Bourne franchise – but these were characters that I was invested in (I wanted the work to be done right or not at all).
And after reading this book, I can say with confidence that the work was done right! Mills obviously did his homework and relied upon the former Rapp team. The story continues with all the loss, action, and suspense (and with just enough hope). Honestly, I struggle with saying this because I do not ever want to disrespect or discredit the memory of Flynn, but this is one of the best Rapp novels to date. Maybe in that way, Flynn and his family were honored by another celebrated pop-author. I look forward to what is next in the narrative!
