A Time Under Heaven…

For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.

A time to be born and a time to die.  A time to plant and a time to harvest.

A time to kill and a time to heal.  A time to tear down and a time to build up.

A time to cry and a time to laugh.  A time to grieve and a time to dance.

A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.

A time to embrace and a time to turn away.

A time to search and a time to quit searching.  A time to keep and a time to throw away.

A time to tear and a time to mend.  A time to be quiet and a time to speak.

A time to love and a time to hate.  A time for war and a time for peace” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, NLT).

One commentator suggests, “Life is composed of joy and sorrow, building and destroying, and living and dying. Each comes at the proper time. This reminds us that we are creatures of time and not yet able to partake of the joys of eternity. No one can be happy who has not come to grips with the reality that life is full of changes and sorrows as well as continuity and joy. We must accept that we are mortal and governed by time.”

The seasons our God-ordained.  However, the severity might very well be due to our choices or those around us.  What we might consider during the sunshine or the storm is what Jesus might be doing (and what he might want to do within us and through us).

What season do you find yourself in?  How might we be pray for you and encourage you during this time?
